John McGuire has voted for policies that increase costs for Virginia families, including on groceries, electricity, gas, and health care, while taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from corporate PACs.

Voters in the Richmond and Roanoke media markets need to immediately see CTV and YouTube ads focused on costs and corruption, including how:

  • Congressman John McGuire was caught using his position to help himself, trying to profit from tech and wall street stock trades, sitting on key committees that oversee them. He was caught buying health insurance stock and taking money from the insurance industry while voting to let them raise premiums. He looks out for his own bottom line, driving our costs up.

Voters district-wide need to read in the mail in mid-October and late October about McGuire increasing costs for Virginia families while using his position to help himself, including how:

  • Voters are paying $3,700 more per month because of John McGuire.  He voted for the war in Iran, which is raising the cost of gas, fuel and fertilizer. And he voted for legislation that raised the cost of groceries, utility bills, housing, health care, and other basic necessities.

  • While voting to increase costs for Virginians, McGuire has profited off higher prices by day trading stocks of companies impacted by his votes.

Voters in the Roanoke media market need to see new broadcast TV, CTV, and YouTube ads showing how life keeps getting more expensive under John McGuire while he uses his office to personally profit:

  • John McGuire voted for bills that raised costs on groceries, electricity, gas, health care, and housing, taking $3,700 a year out of the pockets of Virginia families.

  • While Virginians pay more, McGuire has used his seat in Congress to get richer. He traded up to $176,000 worth of stocks in less than one term, including in companies he’s supposed to oversee, and grew his own net worth by nearly half.

  • Everything costs more for Virginia families, and it’s working out great for John McGuire.

Black voters who may or may not vote in the election need to read in the mail over the last 15 days that:

  • President Obama urges them to vote for Tom Perriello. They worked closely together to take on the big health insurance companies to expand access to affordable care.

  • Congressman John McGuire is closely aligned with President Trump. Together they are making things more expensive and trying to make it harder for Black people to vote.

Additional Resources:

  • Voters will receive sufficient positive communication about Tom Perriello and need to be given a clear, repeated case against John McGuire.

  • Paid communication should consistently reinforce that while costs keep rising for Virginians, John McGuire is using his office to enrich himself.

  • Richmond communication should prioritize the broad costs-and-corruption contrast, while Roanoke communication can additionally localize that argument around data centers, electric bills, and Valley Link.
