Congressional Candidate Mike Pruitt Exits Race and Throws Support Behind Perriello 

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Former Congressman Tom Perriello welcomed the endorsement of Albemarle Supervisor Mike Pruitt, who today announced that he has ended his campaign and will support Perriello in flipping this Congressional District. 

“Whether Albemarle County lands in the old 5th or the new 6th, I’m proud to support Tom Perriello in this critical race,” said Pruitt. “Tom will bring real representation for working people in our community. Tom is the real deal. He’s whip smart on policy in a moment where we need that. But more importantly, he knows this region and its people in a way that is deep and true and as solid as these mountains we share. I’m happy to throw my support behind his campaign and look forward to helping him win this November.”

“Mike Pruitt’s service to country and community has been tireless, and he has never wavered in his commitment to the common good. I am honored to have his support after such a hard-fought and substantive campaign,” said Perriello. “I look forward to working closely with Mike to make life around here more affordable and to ensure that our civil rights and Constitutional freedoms are protected.” 

Perriello, a resident of Albemarle County, formerly served as a Member of Congress and U.S. Special Envoy. Perriello is running to represent this region in the current Fifth District, or the proposed Sixth District if voters approve the new congressional maps.
